Mac’s 2011 Bracket Projection v1.0

Here’s version 1.0 of my bracketology.  My first time doing this, so please give some feedback.  The incredibly weak bubble made it difficult to pick the last 4 in the bracket.

My predictions are based on how I think teams will finish the year. This is not a “if the season ended today” bracket.

Last 4 in: Baylor, Alabama, Michigan State, Memphis

P.s. It’s been a minute since I’ve posted here.  Hopefully, I’ll keep up with it this time.

Note to Favre: Go to Minnesota for fishing, not football.

–WRITTEN MAY 6, 2009–

I get this feeling that we’ve been down this road before, Brett.   In fact, we HAVE been down this road every year since you were tossing the ‘skin to Antonio Freeman and Robert Brooks (at least it seems that way).  Dude, if your failed attempt at a comeback as ‘Broadway Brett’ didn’t convince you that you should hang it up for good then maybe you should think of your  once rocket, now battered arm.  Or that you’re 40 years old, you own literally every NFL passing record, and you have NOTHING left to prove.

I’ll admit I was convinced you were as good as ever as you led the Jets to an 8-3 record, and a sure playoff birth.  Only to show what we should have expected from the beginning of the season:  a legendary quarterback who was not physically able to compete at the level we were accustomed to seeing.

This is how we want to remember you, Brett.

–UPDATE AUGUST 18th, 2009–

It’s been quite awhile since I started this post, but due to Favre’s signing with the Vikes (pending physical) I felt it necessary to finish.  For Favre’s sake, as well as my memory of him, I hope his desire to play has been validated by physical workouts rather than a psychological dependency to be Brett Favre, the football star.  The Jets’ 2008 season makes me wonder which Brett Favre we will see in ’09:  The MVP? A servicable starting QB? Or the player who’s ego is larger than his arm?  I hope I’m wrong, Favre…because I could certainly enjoy eating crow on this one.
